From The Principal...

Dear Parents,

Warm Greetings from SIS!

Winter seems to be coming tip-toe to Sapphire and to the rest of the sub-continent. Already there is a delicious coolness in the air and all elements of Nature appear to have acquired the quiet grandeur of this most lovable of seasons. The past month was a kaleidoscope of academic and co-curricular ventures that kept us engaged in the most fruitful ways imaginable. From Mask Making during Circle Time and the CBSE East Zone Swimming Competition to the Duke of Edinburgh Award Programme, our children faced and enjoyed physical and artistic challenges. The Diwali Card Making Competition saw countless intricate patterns painted on cards made in myriad shapes and sizes. There were separate orientation programmes held for Students and Teachers. On the one hand Students attended an orientation programme on the benenfits of blood donation, while Teachers grappled with the intracacies of the Microsoft Office 365 Teaching & Learning. The middle of the month saw the 4th Jharkhand State Squash Tournament at Sapphire, and of course the unforgettable Diwali Night was a grandiose event when Teachers and students joined hands in celebrating the auspicious home-coming of Lord Rama- 'dance and Provencal song', as the deathless poet says! The concluding activity last month was no less important when a large group of students with several Teachers visited the Chhat Ghats to clean them for the devotees who would offer their prayers to the mighty sun! What better way to end the month than with an orison on our lips!

With best wishes,

Dhruba Das

Circle Time - Mask Making Activity

Class 2 and 3: Mask making activity

Children had a great time during the circle time as they were told to make masks and let their imagination run wild. The children brought forward beautifully artistic masks and their ideas were unique and unmatchable.

Class 4 and 5: Close reading bookmark

Close reading is thoughtful, critical analysis of a text that focuses on significant details or patterns in order to develop a deep, precise understanding of the text's form, craft, meanings, etc. Children were educated on this and were asked to make close reading bookmarks. They thoroughly enjoyed it as they creatively participated in the activity and came up with some brilliant artwork.

Circle Time - Diwali Card Making

Diwali , the festival of lights has a great impact on us. Diwali, or Dipawali, is India's biggest and most important holiday of the year. The festival gets its name from the row(avali) of clay lamps (deepa) that Indians light outside their homes to symbolize the inner light that protects them from nagetivity darkness.
This week‘s  Circle Time  had something special for everyone. Students of classes  2 to 5 made beautiful Diwali cards with the help of their  teachers. The cards were decorated with glitters, stars and sequins. This activity enhanced their creativity.  The teachers also related different stories related to this festival.
In all interpretations, one common thread rings true—the festival marks the victory of good over evil.
