Nurturing world citizens
Nurturing world citizens many a time comes back to us, the Teachers in the Best Day Boarding School in Ranchi, Sapphire International school. Students are encouraged, prodded, nudged to ask any number of questions that pop up in their minds.
We believe that there is no such thing as a silly question. As sometimes, some of us tend to react if the question, prima facie appears to be illogical or inconsequential.
No, we train ourselves to listen very carefully to the answers they give and questions asked.
But rarely do we ourselves answer. The question is passed to the students in class and they take turns to answer.
Teachers intervene only towards the end. That way, it is a departure from the norm of a student asking and the teacher answering or shall we say, spoon feeding.
No, we believe in letting students brainstorming themselves. Honing their interactive skills on their way to acquiring knowledge. Gaining in self esteem.
The teacher's job is not so much to disburse their knowledge as to draw students out of their shells, their comfort zones and get them to participate in the learning process.
In the process, we too get fresh insights and new ways of looking at issues and concepts.
We are more than happy with the role reversal. Learning from our students.
After all, each child is a vast repository of learning, only waiting for a forum a platform to perform and excel.
Entirely, in keeping with the letter and spirit of the New Education Policy, 2020.
