As an International school, SIS takes its responsibility for the overall development of your child very seriously. The psychological development and well being form an important part of this growth. Keeping this in mind, the school came up with a workshop on Tuesday, the 8th August, on the delicate issue - 'Gender Sensitization' for the students of grade VIII and their parents.
It is our aim and motto to make our children global citizens and in order to achieve this we have to help evolve the thought process of our children. Through this workshop we tried to inculcate gender sensitivity in etiquette and manners of our students and promote gender equality. We are elated to inform you that through these workshops we are trying to eliminate the stereotypical mindset among adolescents and instill empathy in the views that they hold about themselves and the opposite sex. Group discussions and role play made the workshop an interesting and enlightening one.
Parents who actively took part in the workshop were highly appreciative of the endeavour. The school shall continue with more such counseling workshops to help create healthy minds and a healthy environment.

The motive of this book fair was to inculcate reading as a habit among students as well as to encourage teachers’ research related work, besides making quality books easily available within Sapphire premises. The fair attracted Scholastic India Pvt. Ltd. National Book Trust, India, and Parragon Publishing in collaboration with Crosswords (A renowned Book Shop of Ranchi City).
Books are a mirror of one’s soul; they enrich the mind and soothe the heart. Sapphire International School organized a Three Day ‘Book Fair’ from 17th August, 2017 to 19th August, 2017. The motive was quite apparent, in that SIS, Ranchi, believes in providing its students with holistic and informative literature to enrich students' vocabulary and diction.
The children enjoyed the fair and picked books varying from history to science; from puzzles to poems and from fiction to facts. The children openly expressed the wish that the fair should last for a longer time as it would give them an opportunity to read and access more informative literature besides their well-stocked school library.
Further, teachers of SIS also recommended quality books for the SIS library to build a superb collection in all subjects, from history to technology, fiction to facts.
We can genuinely claim that the book fair was eminently successful at SIS Ranchi: we hope to repeat this kind of event to generate love of books among students.

Both uncertainty and certainty belong to the realm of science. In the course of ascertaining facts let us regard the quantitative constants which are statistically hypothesized and finally approved. In the scientific world, every living object is uniquely designed. Nature is a master of science which respects every particle with the same passion. Let science keep on building a better and better world.
The Academic Science Competition, 2017, is a classic attempt to impart a 'school of sense' to the young school brains of different standards for a multifaceted analytical approach in the field of academic preparedness in science. This competition would further help the students to increase their interest and involvement in the quest for knowledge.

‘Gender Sensitization’ is a necessary step towards the gradual eradication of gender biases. It is also an important tool to reduce the abuse and harassment across the country. We can hope to keep our children safe by spreading awareness through collective efforts of the organizations and cooperation of the schools and parents. SIS has taken it up as a challenge to change the mindsets and attitudes of its students so that they are free to choose ‘What they want to become or do’ depending on their likes rather than their biological make-up.
The second workshop based on Gender Sensitization, this year, was conducted on 25th August 2017, for the students of grades 6 and 7. The parents were also invited as they are an integral part of the school and we intend to share all the special activities with them. It was conducted by the school counselor. The students took keen interest and participated in the Open Conversation, the Ice Breaker Game and the Role Play.
