Sapphire International School conducted a yoga workshop on the 18th of April, 2017 in the school premises under the guidance of the Guest Yoga coach, President and Secretary of Ranchi Yoga Culture, Mr Indrajit Chakraborty (Master in Yoga Yoga-Indra, D.M.Y.M, N.I.S coach).
Over the last 100 years, our lives have become exceedingly fast paced with cell phones, the Internet, the television. This along with a strong work ethic, exam pressure often makes adults as well as children experience a lot of stress and fatigue.
Ultimately, there is a strong need to de-stress to quiet our minds and rejuvenate our bodies and Yoga can help us to achieve this, maintaining a state of balance, a peaceful mind and good health.
Our principal Mr. Dhruba Das honored our guest with a bouquet and a shawl. Mr. Indrajit started the workshop by discussing the history and importance of yoga. Students chanted mantras and started the yoga session with simple stretching exercises followed by the poses/asanas like the Tree pose, the Warrior pose, the Triangle pose, the Bridge pose etc.
Students were taught breathing exercises like 'humming bee breath’, 'Sanmukhi mudra' (closing of the six gates) and 'anulom-vilom' (alternate breathing) and were told the benefits of doing these pranayamas in our daily life; the workshop was finally concluded with a brief meditation session.
The workshop was highly appreciated by the students who were greatly motivated to practise yoga. Sapphire International School continues to conduct special yoga classes for the whole school every Tuesday.
